About the Dataworthy Collective

The Dataworthy Collective is an informal group of thinkers, creators, and practitioners who meet weekly in sessions that can best be described as a collaborative learning environment.

Our sessions are a mix of hosted presentations, technology demos/explorations, and open/moderated discussions around topics such as data literacy, knowledge graph technologies, ontologies, symbolic AI, linked/structured data, RDF and Property Graphs, hybrid KG+LLM techniques, data mesh, as well as decentralized and indie web technologies.

The people who regularly attend come from a variety of data, information, and knowledge representation and AI professions, most with many years of experience. Everyone who attends is genuinely curious to meet others, network, trade stories, and engage in conversations about the strategy, philosophy, and ethics of working with data in environments ranging from personal knowledge management to business enterprises, web consumption, content management, and everything in between.

Our intent is to learn from each other and foster an environment that advances thinking in the areas of semantic, connected, and trusted data.

As Pete Rivett recently said of the group: “We may not have all the answers, but we do have some really great questions.”

Meetings

Our Friday meetings typically attract about 15-20 people, most of them regulars.

We also occasionally spin off a working group to focus on an area of special interest. Currently, Pete Rivett is leading Monday sessions at 11:00 am Eastern called the Ontology Spectrum Revisited. His goal is to review and update the 20+ year old spectrum of structured data, ontologies, and content modeling.

Team

Our core team facilitates the meetings: Margaret Warren (primary organizer of the weekly sessions), Larry Swanson (co-host as needed and networking leader), Pete Rivett, Chris Harding, and Emeka Okoye.

Proposals

If you’d like to propose a discussion topic or demo your work to the group, please reach out to us at: dataworthycollective@gmail.com

Please note that the sessions are always non-commercial in nature and are recorded only at the discretion of the primary speaker(s), and no bots (AI, transcription or otherwise) are allowed.

Support the Collective

Our programming lead, Margaret Warren, provides our Zoom account and spends a lot of time lining up our awesome presenters. You can support our work by contributing at her Buy Me a Coffee page.
